As many of our Clients will know, our founder Michael Coyle is no stranger to the London Marathon, this year taking on his 19th marathon!

Michael took to the streets once more this year, and kept his eagle eye out for more trade mark titbits to keep you all entertained with.
Starting with the event itself, the words ‘London Marathon’ are protected as a trade mark. As the event has been going since 29 March 1981, the mark has acquired distinctive character through use and has been secured as a trade mark by London Marathon Events Limited since 1995.
Alongside the protection for the event itself, the crowds and participants are awash with brands, many belonging to the charity each runner is supporting. Michael ran for Get Kids Going – donations still welcome at https://2024tcslondonmarathon.enthuse.com/pf/michael-coyle

Get Kids Going! is a national charity which gives disabled children and young people, up to the age of
26 years, the opportunity of participating in sport.
Charities secure their brand with a trade mark to enable them to build a following and ensure that the name is secure and not being taken advantage of.
Keep your eyes peeled for Michael’s next adventure this Summer!
