Yves Saint Laurent has filed a trade mark application making its debut into the Metaverse and NFT space.

The renowned French luxury fashion house Yves Saint Laurent has filed a trademark application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on 12 January 2023, revealing its intentions to embark on a digital journey to extend and secure their presence into the metaverse and NFT space.

The trade mark application compromised of virtual makeup, cosmetics, skincare preparations for its usage in the metaverse. Other NFT-backed media like artwork, music and texts was also included in their application. It is suggested that YSL will be introducing online virtual stores starring their digital goods, thereby spreading their brands tangible products into the digital world!

Other luxury brands like Lacoste, Tiffany and Gucci have also embarked onto their digital journey involving NFTs and blockchain technology, pursuing to offer monetary power to token proprietors as crypto prices drop.

Luxury brands are now expanding their presence into new market segments and wish to secure their legal protection that possess in the material world into the metaverse!
