Lil Yatchy files trade mark infringement claim against NFT company

Non Fungible Tokens, known as NFTs, have become hugely popular in the last few months, with the buzz surrounding them only growing.

With such popularity, companies will do all they can to attract the attention of potential buyers or investors.

Singapore based NFT start up Opulous seem to have taken it too far and have been on the receiving end of a lawsuit from rapper Lil Yatchy.

Lil Yatchy claims that his name and likeness has been used without his permission. As Opolous provide music based NFTs it is claimed that the company on launch in early 2021 that the rapper was a part of the group, despite the parties involved only having two introductory meetings to discuss the potentials for collaboration but with no agreements reached or signed.

As this was detailed on social media, it didn’t take long for the news to spread and cause a ripple effect of articles and posts, spreading the misrepresentation. This has been said to have caused confusion.
