Adidas removes its objection to Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation’s three stripe trademark application.

Adidas initially requested the U.S trademark Office to refuse BLM’s trademark application, by way of an opposition.

On Monday, Adidas alleged that BLM Global Network Foundation’s yellow coloured stripe design, looked very alike to Adidas’s well-known three stripe logo. Adidas then went further and stated that this similarity was likely to cause confusion amongst the public as it would promote consumers to think that Adidas was associated with BLM Global Network Foundation.

BLM Global Network Foundation’s trademark application was made for the purposes of using the design on various goods such as clothing, bracelets and many more.

However, Adidas then decided to remove their refusal request. Nevertheless, their reason behind this decision was not explained. However, a source indicated that this was due to Adidas’s having concerns about the public misapprehending its request as being an opposition to the Black Lives Matter movement.
